To level up in SAO, players must first 'purchase' upgrades with EXP or COL by going to an NPC "trainer". Down below are some of the system services that SAO offers to its playerbase.
>> upgrades
Level Up!
This is automatic in-game, but a level-up quest is used to increase your level and skill points.
Costs 700 EXP x the level you are upgrading to.
Skill Reset!
This allows you to reset one core or extra skill of your choice. (Extra skills may only be reset if you have completed all of the necessary requirements for the new desired skill.)
Costs 1000 EXP
Sword Art Upgrade!
RANK PERCENTAGE COST D 300% 1, 500 COL C 400% 2, 500 COL B 550% 4, 500 COL A 750% 6, 000 COL S 1, 000% 10, 000 COL
Extra Sword Art!
All new sword arts start at E, and must be upgraded from E up to S, step by step.
Costs 1, 000 COL for a new Rank E Sword Art.
Crafting Tier Increase!
One can only train their crafting so much before buying the next level up. There are 20 tiers of Crafting Skills in SAO; all of them are fifty points long, and the next Tier must be bought before the skill can progress further. Tier 1 is free.
TIER RANGE COST 251 - 100 500 COL 3101 - 150 1, 000 COL 4151 - 200 1, 750 COL 5201 - 250 2, 750 COL 6251 - 300 4, 000 COL
Skill Upgrade!
Players may level up their skills by spending the skill points they have gained from quests or leveling up. These skill points can be found at the top of your inventory. Skill points do not all need to be used all at once. If you wish to save points for future skills, they will be stored in your inventory. However, it is required that a minimum of 5 points are spent if you decide to upgrade your skill levels. You can view the number of points distributed per level here. Remember to follow the guidelines listed in the link above, too.
Skill Specialization/Skill Specialization Reset!
All players may select one specialized core skill and one specialized supplemental skill. This allows players to add up to 10 additional points in a specific skill. Specialized skills may only be removed with a skill specialization reset. Players lose any additional points exceeding the normal skill level cap and the points will not be refunded.
Costs 1,000 COL for a Skill Specialization Reset>> GENERAL TEMPLATEYou may purchase any of the upgrades except the skill upgrade with this template.
