HAIR: Black, has a couple of gray strands that can be found if someone is looking for them. Yasu likes having his hair long, and often styles it in ponytails.
OTHERS: Although he has a lean, feminine appearance to the point of being mistaken for a woman from all points of view, Yasu has a very distinctive deep, husky voice. It's really off-putting for most people that meets him for the first time.

This arte is triggered by bringing the spear's tip forward, adopting the basic stance for spear combat. The user of this arte then moves toward his or her chosen target, unleashing a one-two combo with the weapon.

This arte is activated by spreading one's legs, dominant foot forward, and rotating the body a little to the side, the spear's tip pointed toward the ground in an angle. Once this stance is adopted and the charge-up is completed, the user dashes toward his or her chosen target, thrusting it down with a clean stab. If this Sword Art succeeds in thrusting, the target gets inflicted with the Paralysis condition.

Pros
+Simple: It doesn't take a lot for Yasu to be satisfied. In fact, it only takes him a few moments of peace, a smoke, and something to fiddle around with to make him have what he calls "quality time".

+Carefree: To Yasu, the small mishaps of life are absolutely irrelevant and have no need to be worried about. He is the kind of person that takes life like it comes to him; he feels like if he worried too much about everything, he would lose control of his life. However, Yasu is aware that some things are more important than others and actually need to be worried about if he is too negligent.

+Hard-working: Once Yasu starts something, it is assured that he will finish it. He is not one to let something he has been working on for a while go to waste, he would just feel bad about it. He even holds a personal motto about working, often stating that he should give more than a hundred percent when it comes to doing a perfect job.

+Outspoken/Casual: The way Yasu speaks makes him appear like someone who has no idea on how to be formal, which is true. For all his life, Yasu has lived with no other male role model than his late father, the latter not being the nicest guy around in town. He speaks casually, tends to give nicknames to people he meets and can make comments that may appear rude to others.

+Resourceful: Yasu is, by far, a very clever and resourceful individual in the sense that he knows how to get out of what he calls "deep shit".

Yasu was born and raised in the city by his parents. Unfortunately for him, the young boy was born with unbelievably girly looks, which would soon make him a victim for bullies to pick on. Early on in elementary school, Yasu learned to defend himself from being bullied, mostly with his fist. Because of his tendency to immediately go physical with a boy that mocks his feminine appearance, he often went home with bruises, suspended from classes for a day or two. Early on in his life, Yasu took a lot of liking to going outside to move around, whether it was for running or playing sports with some friends he had made back in school.

Once he became a teenager, Yasu’s looks followed him, accented with his liking for having long hair. Not that it had any effect with his classmates since he knew most of them from elementary school, thus meaning that the bullying had stopped, but he now looked more feminine than ever. In fact, it was only his voice and his choice of outfits that identified him as a member of the masculine sex. During middle school, Yasu made a friend out of one of his classmates, a tomboy of a girl named Erika. She first approached him during lunch for some reason that he can’t really remember, but since then both of them became good friends. It was also during his teenage years that his father died, which started some troubles between him and his mother.

As soon as he finished high school, the boy – now a man – took the decision to take a hike to the small town on the seaside that he had once visited with his parents on a family trip. He even took along that tomboy of a girl he had grown to love, believing that their little childish ploy to run away from the trouble back home would work out. After renting a cheap, small apartment using the money he had saved until now, Yasu went out for job hunting, along with Erika. He eventually found a job as a full-time janitor at an elementary school, and Erika worked as a part-time waitress at a small restaurant. Their lives weren’t the most luxurious due to some financial problems, but in a way the young man felt more alive than he ever did back in the city. He hoped his girlfriend felt the same way.

During the years that separated his moving and his imprisonment in Sword Art Online, Yasu had found an interest in fishing, taking it up as a hobby. He had also grown fond of smoking, even though he was very aware of how bad it actually was for his health. He learned to drive and bought a cheap vehicle. Once per year, the couple would take a short-lived trip back to the city they once called home, visiting their respective families. Whenever they came back from that place, the couple would immediately start bringing up nostalgic high school stories, and they didn’t bother with redundancy either. It felt like some kind of tradition, repeating those stories over and over again, sometimes changing a certain detail with the hope that the other would point out how ridiculous it was.

His whole life would change once he got his hands on the Sword Art Online game.

He felt like his life had been tore apart from the moment Kayaba Akihiko made his announcement. What would become of him, he asked himself in horror. What would become of Erika? What about his life? Deep down, the young man knew that being imprisoned in the game would bring big repercussions on his real life. He didn’t want to die meaninglessly, but the game had to be cleared for him to get out. He stood at the plaza, staring at the floor with wide eyes as everyone else left with despair or newfound determination behind their backs. He had no idea what to do.
