HEART<<NAME>>Ike "Ace" Watanabe<<AGE>>17<<GENDER>>Male<<NATIONALITY>>Japanese<<APPEARANCE>>Ike stands at 170 cm. He possesses a slim, wiry build that allows him to excel physically. While the icon suggests Ike's hair is of a unique variety, it is actually a regular dark shade. When Ike entered the virtual world, he was given the option to flare up his style a bit and immediately took the opportunity to do so. Ike has gentle eyes, soothing to all who dare lose themselves in those pools of green. His posture is always upright as he walks with a sense of confidence. Ike naturally irradiates an affable aura and he considers himself very approachable. It is unlikely he will ever be without a smile on his face.<<PERSONALITY>>
Outgoing. Ike is adventurous in his social life. He loves to meet people of all sorts and believes he can see the good in everyone. He acknowledges some are good at certain things and bad at other stuff. He appreciates people for their unique traits and shortcomings while holding firm that in a unified group, nothing is impossible.
Caring. Ike genuinely cares about others. It may be more accurate to say he is a selfless person. As an only child, he treated everyone around him as a brother or sister. This allowed Ike to feel a true connection to everyone involved in his life. No matter how big or small a role someone played in his life, you can be sure Ike would have their back should they ever need it.
Reliable. Coat-tailing off of caring, Ike is also reliable. Ike does not like to be let down and he reflects that in his attitude when others count on him. Rain or shine, Ike will not miss a date. Thick and thin, Ike will be there for you.
Airhead. Ike tends to have his head in the clouds as he is not the type to worry. This can lead to others mistaking him for being an ass or disrespectful, which is not the case. More often than not, Ike is probably daydreaming about his next great achievement.
Playful.Ike lacks a serious demeanor or what others may refer to as a 'poker face'. He is not professional by any means and regards nearly everything as a game. He intends to win every game but it can be argued that his lack of discipline could very well be his folly.
Reckless.Ike is far from the cold and calculated type. In fact, he is sort of a hothead and rides his emotional roller-coaster out whenever he can. As you can imagine, this can lead to less than favorable situations. It does not help that Ike's confidence encourages him to take risks whenever possible.<<HISTORY>>Ike had the privilege of growing up in a household that was not far off from affluent. Ike lived in an apartment unit with his mother and father in Ome, Tokyo, Japan. The apartment was more than enough space for Ike and his parents. It was also conveniently located between the schools Ike's parents desired. Ike was essentially the pride and joy of the Watanabe's. It reflected in their family's dealings as both parents beamed with pride whenever talking about their child. Ike did not once think to take his parents' love for granted and sought to please them as best he could.
Growing up, he was a bright child and always made friends with the other kids. He was active and loved being outdoors. One sport in particular captured his heart. Baseball. Ike spent nearly every spare moment to baseball, whether it be playing with a bunch of kids at the local park, sandlot, or traffic free street, or watching the pros on tv, Ike lived for baseball. He played in clubs and travel team, showing an exceptional understanding of the game. In Junior High, Ike's talents were recognized and he was asked to try out for Japan's National Little League team. A month later, Ike found himself traveling around the world to play other kids who shared his love of the sport. During his time with the team, he eventually earned the nickname "Ace" as he became one of the main relievers for his team after pitching 3 no hitter innings to seal 1-0 win. Japan did not go on to win the LLWS but it was the experience of a lifetime.
Ike went on to play baseball in high school. Unfortunately, his body could not keep up with his heart as he peaked in height early. Ike only grew to 5'7 which was no surprise considering his pedigree (his parents were of smaller stature than himself). Instead of growing bitter, Ike appreciated his time playing ball and continued to excel in high school. His nickname "Ace" from the LLWS carried over to high school and he quickly grew in popularity, starting on varsity all 3 years of high school. Ike made it a point to be friendly with everyone at his high school. It was just a part of who he was. Kids who were bullied were no exception.
One day, a transfer student from America arrived at his high school. He was ostracized by the other students due to a certain amount of animosity between foreigners and Japanese born kids. Ike, however, was used to foreigners thanks to his travels during the LLWS. He had actually made it a point to be able to speak Engrish in order to communicate with rival teams during the LLWS. Ike of course befriended the American transfer student, Blake, and actually grew quite fond of his friend as he was so different.
Blake introduced Ike to the world of video games, a somewhat forced hobby Blake had to indulge himself with. Ike was the only friend willing to spend time with Blake outside of school. Of course Blake partook in videogames to overcome his loneliness. Blake often talked fondly of a certain domestic developer, Kayaba Akihiko, and his upcoming game dubbed Sword Art Online. Blake was one of the fortunate few who participated in the Beta of the game. He was definitely a hardcore gamer. When SAO was eventually released, Ike was pleasantly surprised by Blake. Blake had obtained two copies, one for himself and one for Ike. Ike was reluctant to accept his invitation.
Upon log in, Ike was immediately enchanted by the realistic graphics and feeling of the virtual world. However, he didn't intend on spending his time in this world. He only obliged to Blake's request because Ike knew how hard it must have been to get not one but two copies of the game. After meeting up with Blake in game, Ike informed him he was going to log out. But the log out button was missing. It was not long after that Kayaba, Blake's idol, would make that heart wrenching announcement to the world of SAO. Upon hearing this, Ike looked to Blake but found no one at his side. Ike frantically scanned the crowd for his friend. On the outskirts of the masses, Ike saw him. Blake stood there for a moment receiving Ike's confused look before turning and leaving.
Ike had been betrayed. He was on his own in this unforgiving and unfamiliar world. But fear not for there is one thing Ike has. He has heart.SKILLS
