Chisato is described as a petite, beautiful young woman with fair skin and her most prominent feature being her long flyaway pink hair. Having a slender and quite curvy build, she stands at a height of 5 feet 4 inches resulting in her to be average in height but weighing more on the petite side due to her strict modeling procedures. She weighs quite lightly, rocking between the 98-100 pound borderline. Her lightweight build gives her a quite fragile and frail appearance which isn't something one should think.

Another prominent feature of hers, standing out just as much as her hair is her sapphire blue eyes which stand in contrast due to her rather fair complexion. Her bangs are shagged, cupping areas of her cheeks and chin, with some falling gracefully over her eyes. Her overall appearance makes it no wonder why her mother was so eager to place her into the fashion modeling industry.

Chisato doesn't tend to smile too often though when she does they're often faint or small smiles. She carries a more thoughtful look to her and doesn't particularly let her emotions display themselves easily on her face.

In terms of wardrobe outside of SAO, she tends to have the most up to date fashions due to her career. Though she likes to dress in simple garments like white dresses, not really preferring the hot styles on the Tokyo market.

to activate this art, the user holds the sword to the side in a downward arch position. once the art is charged, the blade will be shrouded with a lavender aura. this art contains two strikes, both being somewhat weak in power though quite swift in movement. the player sends the first strike towards the opponents legs, before leaping into the air to deliver the final strike from above in a fluid swift motion. the effect is taken after a 'blossoming flower' which begins its life from the ground before making its way above the soil.

to activate this art, the user points their sword straight upward, imitating that of a still sakura tree. once charged, the blade will begin to emit a pinkish hue. taking on the fluid motion of falling sakura petals, this art delivers one rather swift and powerful strike right through the opponent.

NEGATIVES

ALTRUISTIC - She tends to sacrifice her own happiness as long as it benefits those around her, most particularly her parents. As long as those around her are satisfied, then nothing else really matters to her, which doesn't work well at all on her behalf. She is very obedient to what others tells her to do and will instantly agree with whatever her parents decide for her, on the outside at least. Due to the fact that her parents control her life outside of SAO, she doesn't really know how to voice her own opinions very much and this particular nature carries on to her life within the SAO universe.

RESERVED - She likes to avoid unwanted attention so tends to withdraw from others for most part. Being the quiet type, she doesn't talk very much unless it's needed. Voicing her opinions or thoughts are not very common traits for Chisato for she keeps to herself most of the time. Her reserved nature makes it difficult for others to really get to know her as she prefers to keep her cards close. This does not help that she is generally distrusting towards people she doesn't know.

MEEK - Chisato is submissive, not being the type to really fight for the lead position and being quite comfortable in the hands of a trusting leader. She's easily dominated which at times tends to annoy her as she strives to be more independent within certain scenarios. She perceives herself on being too gentle in most situations, mostly in regards to people. This contrasts with the fact that she's quite hard in battle.

INSECURE - While her insecurity is hidden for most part, she strives to be accepted for who she really is rather than how the society perceives her to be. Considering she's a fashion model outside of SAO, she finds herself even more confused with who she really is considering she didn't really choose to be a model in the first place. She finds herself caring what other people think of her which tends to have her agreeing with things she doesn't really agree with. Her individuality is often in question within Chisato's mind which leaves her in confusion on who she really is. Due to this she isn't confidant in herself.

CAUTIOUS - This applies directly to individuals around her. She won't open up willingly to another person and won't hesitate to depend more on herself than quest partners from time to time. While she does distrust people, it isn't because she doesn't dislike them, she just had bad experiences due to the fact she was often used by her peers for her money, occupation and good looks. Once your trust is earned by Chisato, however, she becomes extremely loyal to you.

POSITIVES

PROTECTIVE - Chisato is instinctively protective of those around her, especially those weaker or close to her. She has the urge to protect those in need and will do all she can to aide someone who needs it. Despite the fact that she tries her best not to get close to people in fear of losing them, she still can't help herself to protect someone in need. Once you become her friend, she'll automatically put you before herself and will try her best to look out for you.

COMPOSED - She is able to deal with even the most brash and complicated of personalities. Her patience with others as well as the game is quite useful as she isn't one to let her emotions get control over her so easily. She is able to think with a clear head, enduring rough patches and taking everything in a calm atmosphere. She's difficult to anger, being quite level-headed in the most nerve wrecking scenarios. While others panic around her, she would be the type to calm everyone down. She has a kind of calming effect towards others and if she wasn't so nervous around people she'd make quite a good leader. She tends to think things through thoroughly before launching into something, the exception being when others need her help.

OBSERVANT - While most would rather talk amongst themselves, Chisato is quite content of staying in the background quietly observing those around her. She has picked up on this trait due to the fact that her love for writing has her perceiving things more closely in order to find descriptions. Due to this, she's able to catch small things and see the whole detailed picture of particular situations.

SOFTHEARTED - Naturally she has a caring personality, reaching her hand out to others whether it be friend, foe or stranger. She is able to provide a great deal of comfort and support towards others resulting in a rather motherly air to her. Her nurturing trait stems from the lack of comfort and support her parents gave her.From what her parents failed to show her, Chisato tends to give to others. She wants to be liked by others and wants to be more herself than what her life out of SAO wants her to be.

COURTEOUS - Coming from the prestigious household she knows so well, Chisato was brought up as a young lady. As such, she behaves as one most of the time. She doesn't forget her manners, using honorifics quite often. She won't hesitate to give a bow in greeting or send a message of her thanks when someone does a good deed for her. She's the type of person to repay someone who has done her good as she believes it as 'owing' them. Chisato overall follows the golden rule of respect 'treat others the way you wish to be treated'.

Chisato Sekiguchi was born in the heart of Tokyo, Japan on March 3rd to fashion designer, Ayako (nee Suzuki) Sekiguchi and CEO of a successful business company, Tomohisa Sekiguchi. She grew up in a prestigious background due to her mother and father's occupations. Due to this she was able to attend the most prestigious schools and became generally popular among her classmates for not only her money but good looks as well. Though her childhood was quite a cold and lonely one. She was often left home alone with her housekeeper to look after her considering her parents were often busy with their work. Her father often journeyed to different countries for business trips while her mother was known to stay at her office over night to finish the last touches to the latest fashion trends. Family dinners were very rare, though Chisato found herself enjoying such occasions when the times came. She was often sent to etiquette classes and piano lessons to occupy her time. Due to their lack of being within their daughter's life, Tomohisa and Ayako were often unaware of Chisato's wants or needs which resulted in them to mold their daughter into the person they wanted her to be. Though they mean well and love their daughter, they fail to understand who Chisato Sekiguchi is.

As Chisato grew, it became an unspoken duty for her to have her parents decide most things within her life.

From her good looks, Chisato was able to land a position as a fashion model in her mother's company, modeling her mother's latest designs. Her future was already planned, down to fiancee her father had picked out for her. Due to the fact that she was the only child of Ayako and Tomohisa and a daughter instead of a son, Tomohisa arranged a perfect candidate to be in line for ownership of his company, hence also declaring him to be Chisato's fiancee. Takeshi Suematsu, the son of an old family friend would be the future husband of the pink-haired Sekiguchi. Despite how very unhappy she was, Chisato allowed her parents to make all decisions for her, accepting each one without a complaint just because it made her parents smile and happy.

Being a model, Chisato's life wasn't the most private one. She was placed into interviews daily, signed autographs on the wide and if she wasn't doing that she was having photoshoots. Despite the compliments and the fans and the suitors she had, she never really wanted to be a model and was more into becoming a writer instead. She was quite skilled in writing songs and had an exceptional singing voice which wasn't heard so much nor noticed by her family or peers. Along with her writing abilities she also had a secret fun-filled hobby with gaming, something no one knew about. She was introduced to the gaming world from online friends who she escaped to due to the fact that they didn't know who she really was. Being a newbie in the world of gaming, she had fun learning about t from her online friends. It was always a pleasure for her to escape from her more than suffocating lifestyle. She didn't want to marry her fiancee and wanted to experience true love instead of a forced marriage. The pressure was building up within Chisato but she continued to smile for her parents, for her fiancee and for the millions of people constantly watching her.

Chisato's talent in writing made her quite creative in her words, resulting in the girl to become strangely observant of the smallest of things. She wrote fiction or poems or lyrics with descriptive words and was the top of her literary classes due to it. While her teacher pushed her to succeed in her writing, something that she secretly wanted to do more than anything, her parents pushed her in a whole other direction, modeling and tending to her duties to her fiancee. And while she would like to spend her monthly allowances and money on the newest games and systems, she would moreso spent it on the get togethers she had with others, considering no one bothered to pay their tabs when they were with wealthy Chisato. Chisato literally lived in a world comprised of other people's decisions for her. She was more or less stuck in her own rut of reality with no where to go.

Chisato's school life was always bursting with something. Fans, love letters, random get togethers, parties and while at first she enjoyed them all it made her wonder. Not one of her 'friends' had asked questions about her, about what she liked to do or where she'd like to go and those guys who asked her out on dates only told her how pretty she was or how wonderful she looked in the newest issue of a magazine. It came to her conclusion that even her social life was a lie, not one single person was truly her friend. It made Chisato long for a normal life, one where she was a normal girl. A life where no one knew who she really was.

When SAO was introduced, she felt a sense of relief, a virtual reality where she could escape from the reality. It sounded like the perfect solution, the amazing dream realm she wanted. Being one of the 10,000 to receive a copy of SAO during its release, Chisato was ecstatic. It was the first thing she had done on her own, her own decision she had made herself without anyone pushing through her life and deciding it for her. The release of SAO resulted in Chisato to disappear from her fashionable and prestigious world so she could focus on the virtual reality before her. Little did she know, this virtual reality would soon consume her, literally consume her.

At first SAO was paradise to her, a place where she could escape, where she could run to. A place where she could actually be herself and who she wanted to be. Though upon realizing the truth behind SAO and how she would be stuck there until she completed the 100 levels of the game, Chisato was secretly quite happy. She could spend the time here being herself but then again, she wasn't even sure who 'Chisato Sekiguchi' really was. A model? A gamer? A writer? A fiancee? A wealthy child?

Going under the alias, Chise, so no one knows her true real life identity (though players know what she looks like so it's not too helpful), Chisato does want to defeat the game to be released but at the same time...she isn't sure whether she wants that or not.

Chise blinked, quite taken aback at the fact that she couldn’t log out of the system. This wasn’t good, Takeshi would be home soon and they had big dinner plans with both their parents. Though she wasn’t looking forward to attend the fancy dinner to begin with, she knew her parents would be crushed if she didn’t arrive not to mention she didn’t want to leave a bad impression on Takeshi’s parents. Standing there, horrorstruck, Chise shook her head and closed the menu before trying again to log out. Perhaps it was just a temporary glitch in the service, after all it was a new game. The second time around brought her no luck as she was once again met with the same menu screen, the log out option completely absent. Looking around her, she saw several other players happily chatting within the Town of Beginnings. Was it just hers that wasn’t working? What was going on?

Without warning the surrounding area went red, and a cloaked figure appeared before them, towering over the town as several other logged in players were teleported to the town’s square. She listened to what Kayaba Akihiko was telling them, her eyes growing wide in shock the more he continued on with his speech. Was this really happening? Upon realizing the item that was bestowed to them, Chise took the item out of her inventory, revealing a relatively ordinary looking mirror. Though the moment her eyes met the surface, she watched as the plain brunette avatar she had created prior to logging in, the avatar that looked nothing like the real her vanish to instead her true appearance in its wake. Pink hair, sapphire eyes, pale skin, Chisato Sekiguchi. A few eyes glanced in her direction as they realized just who she really was and Chise immediately felt the need to hide and escape. Luckily the tone of Kayaba entranced everyone and she was able to continue listening to him, dumbstruck at his words.

The moment Kayaba had finished his speech, there was a moment’s silence before the entire 10,000 players began to let out screams of frustration much to Chise’s alarm. Without second thought, she turned on her heel and fought against the wave of scared players, and escaped to a nearby alleyway of the town, leaning against the wall as she took in gulps of air at her ‘death sentence’ apparently. While fear was nestled in her heart, there was another emotion that Chise found quite crazy, relief. She was relieved. She was able to escape her suffocating real life world and stay within this one, being free to do whatever she wanted. No arranged marriage, no modeling or interviews, no photoshoots or fake smiles, no more parents running her life. As her relief entangled itself with her fear, she found the negative emotion steadily fade away as her heart continued to hammer in her chest.

“I’m…Free?” she murmured to herself. She found it ironic. She was indeed free, but she was also now trapped in this virtual world, forced to battle for her life, though strangely, Chise didn’t seem to mind that.
