IN-GAME NAME HERE<<NAME>>Sylvia Akiyama.<<AGE>>18.<<GENDER>>Female.<<NATIONALITY>>Japanese.<<APPEARANCE>>Slyvia is a beautiful young woman with above average bust size and fair skin complexion, though she may seem a bit pale due to her tendency to stay indoors. She is very fit and somewhat strong despite her overall feminine form thanks to her days in her school’s swim teams and her days spent helping out in her aunt’s martial arts school. The high school student stands at an average height of five feet and seven inches tall and weighs one-hundred and forty-two pounds. Her natural features are considered very beautiful by many of her peers and potential boyfriends despite the fact that she rarely wears make up. Her straight, inky black hair reaches down to her mid-back and is normally held back by a red headband, though a few extra strands of hair naturally settle on the sides of her head without the accessory. Her eyes are an uncommon shade of grey.
Like her wardrobe in reality, the young woman prefers to wear red and black colors for her clothes and armor. When it comes to clothes themselves, she prefers a sleeveless or short sleeved shirt worn beneath a red sweater, black jacket or black heavy coat with a red scarf, depending on the weather.<<PERSONALITY>>Positives
- Kind. Sylvia grew up learning the value of a friendly smile and the good that a few kind words can do for someone. Despite how shy she can be towards strangers or people she only knows through her friends, she carries herself with a friendly demeanor and can be very honest and helpful towards others. She is extremely loyal and empathic to her friends, even more so to those that she considers her closest friends.
- Perceptive. Thanks to her mother's subtle teaching, the young woman can be very perceptive towards smaller things, such as a person’s body language or smaller details and objects in the area around her. Though this could be a double edged sword at times, she tends to view it in a positive light.
- Determined. Despite sometimes displaying great amounts of worry over a wide arrange of small and large details, Sylvia holds a determination that sometimes surprises some of her friends and family. This now extends to Sword Art Online, where she has resolved to play an active role in clearing the game, protecting her friends and helping everyone trapped in the Aincrad escape from their digital prison.
Negative
- Shy. Perhaps because of her popularity her natural beauty in school has brought her, Sylvia has become shyer, quieter and even a bit cynical of others over her years in high school. Even amongst friends, anyone who hasn’t gained her complete trust will have a difficult time getting her to open up about any of her worries, doubts or problems or even completely be herself. She dislikes it when someone is intrusive and tries to force their way into her business despite the fact that she can be that way herself sometimes as well.
- Stubborn. Stemming from her determination, there are times when Sylvia can be annoyingly stubborn. Though it doesn’t happen often, she may sometimes get an idea stuck in her head and it becomes almost impossible to sway her from the idea, even if it’s something of little importance. Still, good enough logic or even yelling at her may be enough to sway her.
- Unforgiving. Though perhaps the term can be seen as a bit strong, those who betray Sylvia’s trust will find it extremely difficult to regain it. It may even be impossible depending on the severity of the offense. This can lead her to be spiteful towards those who have broken her trust and possibly even vengeful, though she remains adamant that she will never physically harm anyone in her anger.
Misc
What seems to surprise many people is that Sylvia is a dedicated gamer. Despite her time spent with her school’s swim team and helping out at her family’s martial arts school, she always seemed to find the time to sit down in her room and play her favorite games. They provided an escape from her normal routine and stress that almost always seems to linger in her house. She also has a love of music and singing. In reality, it was extremely rare to see her not listening to her MP3 player and she has been caught on several occasions singing to herself in her room or in an area she otherwise thought no one would stumble across her. She loves cooking and almost always is the one to prepare the special dishes made for the holidays around her home and in the martial arts school.
Her favorite food, both to eat and cook, is curry, followed closely by pizza and chocolate. Her favorite drink is grape flavored soda. However, she absolutely hates olives and dislikes drinking soy milk. Her favorite season is autumn and her favorite colors are red, black and silver.<<HISTORY>>ISylvia was born to a hard working middle-class family
living on the outskirts of Tokyo. Her father, Regal Akiyama, was a
well-known chef working in one of the city’s favored restaurants. His
cooking had become somewhat of a local legend and had boosted the
establishment’s reputation by a great deal. He was a very friendly man,
though sometimes distant, and he almost always seemed to be lost in
thought even when he was cooking. Her mother, Alicia Akiyama, was an
English translator. Because of her work, she was often working overseas
in the United States or England. The two met when Alicia returned from
an extended trip overseas and stopped by the restaurant where Regal
worked. The two met when the latter went on break and after a long
talk, they began to date. A few years later, they were married and had
their only child, Sylvia.
Sylvia was exposed to gaming from a
very early age. Her father spent a majority of his free time in front
of the television or the computer playing various games while looking
after her. The young toddler would often be seated next to her father
and watched as he playing his games. Even as she grew older, since she
was clearly too young to venture out of her home alone, she would often
sit and play with her toys while watching her father play his video
games. She would often pretend that her toys were a part of the game
and that they were playing an active role with whatever was happening on
screen. Even when Regal was not playing games though, the child’s
routine did not change much. She spent a majority of her time playing
with her toys or napping. During the times her father went to work, the
young baby was often left in the hands of a day-care until her father
could pick her up later.
It was rare that she got to see her
mother, who was still often out of the country due to her work. When
they did get to spend time with each other though, her mother would
often take her out to the park to play with the other young children.
Alicia would often bring home souvenirs from the United States as gifts
for her daughter, mostly in the form of toys and dolls that Sylvia could
play with. Despite the lessened time they got to spend with each
other, Sylvia and her mother grew quite close.
As she reached
closer to the age of ten, her father began to let her play some of his
games. Though she never did anything other than move around and kill
off her father’s in-game avatar by jumping off of a cliff, the young
girl always had a lot of fun. Fleeting as the moments seemed, gaming
quickly became one of her favorite past times. She would often annoy
her father in asking if she could keep playing until her bed time and
her father would almost always relent and allow it.
However, a
few weeks before her tenth birthday, her father failed to pick her up
from school one day. She waited in front of the school for almost an
entire hour before it became apparently to the school’s faculty that he
was not coming. Luckily, her mother was home from her trip and was able
to pick her up, but no one knew where her father had gone. Her mother
said that he had left to pick her up, but he had disappeared somewhere
between home and her school. A search by the police found his car half
way between her school and home, abandoned on the side of the road.
There were almost no clues as to what may have happened to him despite
several investigations by the police. Without any leads or clues to
follow and no witnesses coming forward, the case was quickly abandoned
in pursuit of others deemed more important.
The loss of her father was a devastating one for young
Sylvia. Without any clues or leads to think on, it wasn’t clear if he
had died, been kidnapped or simply abandoned his life and family to
begin new ones. Whatever had happened to him, his disappearance brought
a big change to the young girl’s life. Without her father around, her
mother was forced to cease her travels in order to take care of her
child. While she still kept her job as a translator, she began to work
with books, magazines and local jobs rather than traveling abroad. She
was also unwilling to continue living so close to such a large city, so
she took Sylvia and moved away to a smaller, more rural town where some
of their family lived.
Sylvia greatly disliked the sudden change
in environment. She was often seen as an outsider by a majority of the
local children of her age and she envied how everyone seemed to know
each other so well and get along so well. Their sudden move coupled
with the still very recent disappearance of her father put a lot of
stress on the young one’s shoulders. To help cope with all of the
stress, she turned back to the video games her father had always played
with her. They provided an escape and a release for all of the stress
she faced from her peers at her new school as well as the stress from
losing her father. Playing on her missing father’s consoles, the
teenaged girl spent a majority of her time playing RPG’s and MMO’s alone
in her room.
After a few weeks after settling into their new
home, her mother brought her to see her aunt and uncle in town, who ran a
small martial arts school in hopes to convinced her to attend and meet
some of the other children. Though she adamantly refused to attend the
school, young Sylvia did meet her first and best friend amongst the
students of one of the classes. The other had lost a parent as well and
the two were able to bond quickly with that commonality between them.
After talking with each other and hanging out with each other for a bit,
they found out that they shared some common interests, such as gaming
and a few of their favorite movies.
It quickly became much easier
for Sylvia to settle into her new reality with a new friend. A lot of
the stress coming from her peers at school and in town was drastically
lessened as she was shown around and introduced her to more people. At
school, she tried out for and joined the school’s swimming team with her
friend. Despite having someone she knew on the team though, she still
had a difficult time fitting in with some of the other students. Once
school and swimming practice was over, she would often spend time with
her friend at her family’s martial arts school. Since she did not
attend the school’s classes, she instead helped out around the kitchen
that they ran in the back. Her aunt or uncle would spend the time to
teach her how to cook and often gave her recipes to take home to her
mother. After her friend’s class ended, the two would often head home
and play some games with each other or go play in the park until
sundown.
As time passed, Sylvia began to feel more comfortable in
her new home despite her shyness of others. Though she made a few
friends, she spent a majority of her time with her best friend and
helping out at her family’s martial arts school. She even started
earning some money for her help as well. The stress from losing her
father had mostly faded, though occasional visits from her father’s side
of the family usually ended with a stressful argument or debate about a
variety of things.
Sylvia entered high school at the age of
fifteen. Despite her quiet and shy nature, she soon became popular with
the male student body because of her natural beauty. It was rare that
she was able to leave school without one guy or another asking her out
on a date and she would often noticed small groups of male students
watching her during her swimming practice. Despite being turned down
before, a few of the hopeful students came back to ask again on a later
date. It quickly became an annoyance to her and she soon gained a
somewhat cynical side to her when it came to strangers or people she did
not know well.
Her years in high school passed without much
event. In her second year, she dated a member of the basketball team
who seemed to be more interested in her personality rather than her
looks. However, their relationship lasted only a few short weeks before
he left her to go back to his ex-girlfriend, so she had been able to
get over her loss quickly with the advice her best friend and her mother
gave. Shortly afterward, her mother began to help teach her the
English language. She demonstrated a keen learning ability for the
second language and was able to learn quickly with her mother’s
tutoring. She also became quite the talented cook as well under the
tutorage of her aunt and uncle. Her mother often told her that she
could have easily matched her father’s cooking. As she normally did,
she still spent a majority of her free time helping out around her
family’s school or playing video games alone or with her friend.
Near
the end of her third and final year in high school, Sylvia had begun to
think about what she wanted to do as a career. She had more than
several options, though only a few really appealed to her. She had
always been told by her mother and her friends that she had a beautiful
singing voice and several people made it clear that her natural beauty
would make it easy for her to become a model. A part of her also wanted
to get into the video games industry and help make the games that she
loved to play so much. She also had a good enough grasp of the English
language that she could easily follow in her mother’s footsteps and
become a translator as well.
However, during the midst of her
thoughts and planning, a new announcement came out that generated a
large amount of media coverage. A new game was coming out for the
NerveGear called Sword Art Online. At first, the high school student
had ignored the technology because developers had not done much more
than release educational and puzzle games for it. However, the prospect
of a full VRMMO was an exciting one for her like many other gamers.
With some effort, she managed to get herself invited into the very
selective beta test for the game. During the beta testing period, she
spent almost all of her free time immersing herself in the virtual
world. It was like no other game she had ever played before and despite
some of the bugs that almost always came with beta tests, she
thoroughly enjoyed herself. She managed to climb several floors with
the other players before the testing period came to an end. Afterward,
she convinced her best friend to buy a NerveGear and a copy of the game
when it was released so that they could play together.
After a suspenseful wait for the game’s official release,
Sword art Online was officially released to the public. Excited to
return to the virtual world, Sylvia almost immediately logged into the
game to begin her new adventures in the virtual world of Aincrad.
Unlike before, she specced her character differently. She chose to try
out a more tank-like role to get more variety out of the game. Once her
avatar had been made, the young woman began to explore the beginning
city while she waited for her friend. However, she had not been playing
for long when the bell in the center of the city began to chime.
Teleported to the main square with every other logged in player, the
female student could do nothing but listen as the game’s creator, Kayaba
Akihiko, announced his sinister plans and the death game that they were
now trapped in.
At first, Sylvia did not know how to react. She
quickly departed from the town’s square the first chance that she got
in order to escape the ensuing riot. A mix of terror, anger,
hopelessness and disbelief engulfed her. She had not been able to find
her friend at all and now she was stuck in this world. After spending
some time to think just outside of the city limits, the young woman
eventually conceded. Part of her still hoped that it was all a terrible
nightmare; that she could go to an inn and wake up in her own bed the
following morning. However, the reality of her situation had already
sunk in. They were stuck in the virtual world of Aicrad until they
could clear the game. Though still upset, she gathered her
determination and resolved to help complete the game and release all of
the trapped players. After all, sitting around and hiding in the
starting city wouldn't do anything to help the problem, right?SKILLS

AGI. one-handed swords
2 Strikes, 0 Specials, 125% Speed, 75% PowerThe user initiates this arte by drawing their weapon back
as if to prepare for a horizontal slash. When charged, the blade gains
a red aura. Once released, the player
strikes at their intended target with quicker than normal a horizontal
slash. After the first, a second slash is then made in the opposite
direction of the first and angled very slightly upward. Both of the
slashes leave a contrail behind that form a thin red X in the air for a
moment before fading and though each slash is slightly weaker than
normal, the art is quick to charge and execute.
D-RANK:
DEMON SPEAR. one-handed swords
1 Strikes, 2 Specials, 100% Speed, 50% PowerThe player draws their blade back
in preparation to thrust at their opponent to initiate this arte. When
charged, the player's blade will gain a dark indigo
aura. When released, the user thrusts their blade toward their
intended target. If the target creature or player is within a few feet
of the blade, the aura surrounding the blade will lance out toward them,
effectively increasing this arte’s range. If hit, the target has a
chance to be afflicted with the poison status ailment.<<yukiko amagi from persona 4 as sylvia akiyama>><<character by JUDE>><<profile template by bunny>>
