[classy=title]PERSONALITY[/classy] "When we are young, they try to get us to speak. But when we are older and try to talk, they want us to shut up." |
For example, Bastion isn't the most mature man on the block. Before anything else, he can be labeled as silly. Often coming up with crazy antics or schemes. They usually come off as silly or even childish[/b]. Maturity had never been Bastion's strong suit. It was too plain for him, not as abstract as being a regular child. Despite being an adult, he was still a child at heart. Maturity often meant giving up the little insecurities that came with being young. Bastion wasn't fully prepared nor did he want to give up those ideals and thus delved deeper inside of them to find a deeper sense within himself.
His creative[/color] pieces of art stem from his optimistic personality. In Bastion's opinion there is always a silver-lining. When something is bad or someone is being put down, there is always a bright side to it. Everything in this world is abstract, different. Its changing. Creativity is everywhere spreading beyond where the eye can see. Bastion believes that if he believes hard enough and keeps an open mind that perhaps he can reach it. And if not, perhaps he should keep trying harder. Bastion's optimistic attitude stems so far that at times he becomes unbelievable. Even when someone has hurt him, he chooses to believe in them because he feels something good can come out of it.
Perhaps he is too trusting which has led to most of his deaths on MMORPGs. But it is his way of life. Trusting others and giving them a chance to enter his heart and become a part of who he is. It may not be a good part of him, but at least it was a part of them that most people would kindly accept. Though he can be somewhat careless[/b]. Taking everything in stride without even recognizing the fact that it could be hazardous to his health and those around him. It can get him into a lot of trouble and Bastion doesn't often stop to realize this until it is a little too late. This is shown when he dived into SAO and quickly ran off without a moment's hesitation. He ignored the fact that he could die at any point if his health reached 0; and that PKers lurked at the edge of town.
Even so, he is clearly aware of his fault. He believes that perhaps SAO could help him with his issues and perhaps make him see that there are things worth caring about. But he just can't help it! Wandering off without a second thought, doing strange and bizarre practices without anyone noticing. It is almost like a way of life for him. He like stepping out into the unknown and doing things that no one else has dared to try. And the only way he usually is able to pull off such feats is if he numbs up to it and forgets what he is doing entirely.
Nonetheless, Bastion is quite brave[/b]. Running away from trouble just isn't his things especially if he is leaving someone behind that can't fend for themselves. What type of man would he be if he did something as despicable as that? His kind[/b] nature doesn't allow him to leave people behind. Rather, he holds out his hand to them in an effort to help them with any troubles that they may come across and will thus need help solving. He likes to help people when they are down and out, or even if they don't want his help.
This accompanies moments where Bastion can be stubborn[/b]. When he sees someone that is hurt and they blatantly refuse his help, he'd rather force his help on them than let them die. There is no way that he would left a bleeding person die right in front of his eyes if there was a way that he could help them. In moments like these when he is zoned in on helping people he finds himself detached[/b] from his body. In a state of numbness, where everything else around him disappears and he is focusing only on that one issue.

[classy=title]HISTORY[/classy]
►DESCRIBE YOUR CHILDHOOD:
Bastion Smith was actually born in Kyoto, Japan. His father was American while his mother was a full-blooded Japanese woman. After some give and take, his father decided to move to Japan back to where his mother was born in Kyoto. There was when his mother decided to drop the news that she was pregnant. This took his father by surprise and the man was flabbergasted. But slowly the news sunk in and he hurried to get a job and make a means for his family before the new addition came along. Long before he was born Bastion was thought of by his parents. They planned out his future from his birth all the way to college. Every little tidbit, every bump they tried to plan out for him before they even met him.
But as the faithful day arose, his mother was excited. With all her might she gave birth to her healthy baby boy. His father cooed over him and his mother loved him at first sight. The two fell in love with the glossy-eyed little baby in their arms. Bastion was an adventurous baby; always getting into things and messing around. His parents allowed him to move about the house but they kept constant watch on him so he wouldn't knock into anything that would cause him pain. Though none of his other family members took place in his life, Bastion was well taken care of by his mother and father. If one wasn't present, the other was always there.
This continued all the way up until he was ready to go to school. At first quite reluctant, Bastion was coaxed into the routine of going to school. He was adored by his teachers and his classmates; and he especially loved to draw, paint, and write. Those were his spectacular points; sports and everything else was normal but he excelled when it came to creative arts. His parents would have his paintings posted up on the walls and the refrigerator making the young man proud of what he was doing with his time. Slowly more and more people began to take an interest in his art, even to the point where they were excited with everything Bastion made.
He was in the third grade when he decided that he wanted to give his art away. Though he wasn't like Leonardo da Vinci or Picasso; he was good in his own way. Giving his paintings to his teachers, his parent's friends and even to complete strangers who would ask. Of course, they would pay his parents and his parents realized that their son truly did have a gift.
►DESCRIBE YOUR TEENAGE YEARS:
Art became a part of Bastion's life but with the birth of art in his soul; another genre also became well-known to him. Video games. Whenever he wasn't drawing or spending time with his parents, he would find himself immersed in the world of games. The constant fighting. The vivid detail. Bastion was obsessed with it. In his free time he would make up his own characters and little worlds. Worlds where anything or anyone would be able to become real. He loved it. The way that his imagination could make anything come to life and he could dream anything that he want.
Though there were some who put down his dreams, his parents encouraged him to follow through with whatever he wanted to do with his life. Because of that, when Bastion turned eighteen and went off to college he went to a college for the arts. He was able to learn character designing and writing, and there was even a program for game designing.
►DESCRIBE YOUR ADULT YEARS:
As his time in the college droned on it was there that he became immersed in SAO. The other members of his class were talking about the game and how the release would be epic. Bastion was curious and one of his friends who had happened to come across the beta but didn't want to play allowed him to play in his stead. Going inside of the game, it was unlike anything that Bastion had ever witnessed before. He was in love with it. The vivid detail; the realistic feeling, it was all so much that he never wanted to leave the game. When he exited from SAO, he craved more of it.
Weeks passed and eventually SAO was released to the public. His friend allowed him to borrow the gear, and he was excited to link back inside. Laying in his apartment, he camped out in his room putting the Nerve Gear on. When he laid down, he shut his eyes and said proudly.
"LINK START!"
►SWORD ART ONLINE:
[/td][/tr]Though what came next wasn't what he expected. Akihiko Kayaba. The looming figure that proposed the Death Game and then disappeared in a flash. Among the other players, Bastion stared into the sky with a wide-eyed expression. Through most of their heads, they thought they'd never see their families again. That they'd be trapped in this place forever. But all Bastion could think was that he was trapped inside of a beautiful paradise. Excited and overtaken by emotion, he jogged off into the vast expanse space of SAO.
