By flinging the weapon over their shoulder the user prepares to gather their strength, the motion causing the weapon to glow a obsidian color before the user charges forwards, launching a swift blow with their attack. This attack is a whirlwind shaped motion, often serving as a good tactic to deal with multiple targets at the same time.

A rather dreadful looking attack this Sword Art is activated by lifting the weapon high above the user's head, causing an obsidian colored glow to be released before making a single brutal swing forwards at the enemy.

Our story begins at the time the Tsukino family's leader finally was blessed with an offspring. Tsukino Hayate was not a name most weren't familiar with, in the end in this time and age many desired to pave the way to glory by making an attempt to advance technology. The Tsukino were famous as the leaders of a corporation that dealt with science, especially medical development. Some might have considered them 'different' from the average family in the way they were wealthy but that didn't change the fact they were still human. Born in this wealthy yet loving family Emiko's childhood was what some might have considered something from a fairy-tale. From her personal butlers to teachers her parents truly pampered her and perhaps it was because of such a blissful ignorance to the hardships of reality that Emiko's personality became far more innocent and cheerful than others might had been.

But then again this doesn't really explain how she got involved in the mysterious events surrounding the Sword Art Online tragedy right? In order to understand than one had to follow the story several years prior to the official announcement of the game. It was a cold winter evening when another tragedy happened...

On her way back to the Tsukino estate the heiress of the family found herself in a traffic accident. The results were horrifying. While the doctors were able to bring her back from the brink of death it appeared her brain had suffered some trauma that left her in a state akin to comatose. Awake but at the same time unable to be truly called alive.

The days that followed were a nightmare. The doctors were clearly unable to tell her parents that everything would be alright, because the chance she would recover was slim to none. It was at that time the Tsukino learned of the development of the Nerve Gear and with it found perhaps a way to heal their child. While the design for the Nerve Gear was meant to be a console the idea of manipulating the brain signals send and received by a person could perhaps lead to the recovery of their child. But one of the greatest issues was time. It would take years for them to create a medical instrument with such capacities, if it was even possible at all.

At the time the development begun for their own creation inspired by the Nerve Gear Emiko's father felt it was be too cruel to let the girl suffer such a life robbed of excitement and fun as she used to have. At the time the announcement was made surrounding the development of a game called Sword Art Online the Tsukino did all they could to at least gain their daughter a spot among the 1000 beta testers. To the point there might even had been a small bit of bribery involved.

The same day the Nerve Gear arrived and Emiko's status as a beta tester was confirmed the helmet was installed on the girl's head and her parents explaining their intentions. It was clear to her the situation she was in, her body refusing to move at all and her ability to speak close to none the stories they were telling her, of a world where she could meet other people without having to worry about the way her real body was she felt a intense desire to be able to enter that world.

"Link..."

Every letter spoken was like a intense challenge to her but something perhaps sheer determination driven her through.

"Start..."

And with those words her parents smiled sadly at her wishing her pleasant dreams in the new world.

Opening her eyes Emiko found the surrounding scenery of her bedroom in the hospital having been somewhat changed. Instead of laying on her bed she found herself seated on a bench within a lively plaza. People she had never seen before were happily talking among each other and while she tried to gather her thoughts a boy of her age ran toward her.

"Another new Beta Tester?"

Blinking in confusion at his words the girl listened to the boy enthusiastically speaking about how they were so lucky to be among the few to be selected for this game. Smiling absently at his words she waited till the boy finished talking and after he excused himself proceeded to 'log out'. It almost felt like she was inside a dream. While she wandered through the streets she saw everyone in the same situation, all of them enjoying a new game but was that truly the case? Seemingly within a place they called the 'Town of Beginnings'. Emiko somehow felt a sense of joy to see all those people playing around her, a joy that turned into sadness whenever they logged out.

When the beta ended and she found herself trapped within her paralyzed body again the girl's feelings toward the experience were divided. While she had been delighted at having seen so many new people that she would have otherwise never met before, she was now once more trapped within the same place as before. Every day she longed to return to that world and it seemed her wish would be granted on the day the game would be released.

It must had been an amusing sight to see the head of such a wealthy family to stand in line among all those people wanting to have a taste of the game but in the end it was something he needed to do at all costs. Getting this game meant he could at least help reduce Emiko's suffering till he could finish creating a means to save her.

And then it happened. As many other players in the world Emiko logged in, or rather was logged in the moment the game was available. Such a happiness she felt by exploring those familiar places again. To be able to see those unfamiliar people talking to each other. If this world... If the world she was in right now was only reality. Silently wishing for those thoughts, little had she expected her desire to be granted in a most unexpected way.

During the announcement made by the Game Master that the only way for them to leave was by clearing the game the feelings Emiko felt were contradicting to the despair and horror others felt. This world they became trapped in. If they never left she would never feel lonely either! While she was aware of the fact that death in this world meant also the end of her body within reality. The current situation felt a lot different to her than it did for most people.

Clearing the game meant she would be alone again, praying for a chance for her body to recover again, So in that case..

"Let's just stay here... Everyone let's play together forever."

Despite her cheerfulness and gentle nature those grim ideas were concealed behind her smile. A girl who wouldn't mind being trapped in this game forever, as long as there were others to be with her.
