To activate this art, the player must position a one-handed sword behind them with its tip pointing horizontally past their backside. In addition, the user must inch his or her left foot forward and slightly bend its knee, while, simultaneously raising their arm up (elbow edged out) to their chest. If done correctly, a faint glow of cerulean blue will linger around their blade in the moment before they strike. The technique itself can cover only a distance up to a few feet upon activation, but leads into a devastatingly quick blow, wherein, the sword is slashed (back-hand) diagonally up and into its target.

To activate this art, the player must hold their one-handed sword with two hands and point the blade straight down in front of their body. As soon as this action is done there will be a brief moment where a shining blue emits from the hilt and works its way down the breadth of the steel, but, soon after it rises up, shifts and turns out into a straight and powerful lunge at the target.

Born in the United States, Morgana was largely raised in the wintery state of Northern Maine. Wherein, she began soccer at age five and developed most of her more tomboyish qualities therein. During these first early year she fostered one close friendship with another girl on her team named Megan. They often had sleepovers and each others houses and confided their gossip – or what passed for it at that age – with one another.

Megan's parents were on the verge of a divorce (a nasty one at that), and most nights after practice she would take solace in the sanctuary that was Morgana's homestead. Just the opposite from one another in home life, it did not take much of an external catalyst for them to bond. Unlike Megan, she had parents that got along well, participated in various activities, all-the-while maintain strong-careers. They seemed perfect, however, that was far from the truth.

A few weeks after her eighth birthday, her father revealed that they would be moving away. Morgana did not understand, or, did not want to, and, her mother often sided with the life that they had grown to love here. Her job was not leaving, but, another was. Her husband's firm (accounting) was transferring to deal with contracts over-seas – particularly in Europe – and the main office was moving to London. In the end the firm won out; they moved to Britain.

For the next two years, Morgana adjusted to a new school, a new society, a new, well, everything. It took time, but, she eventually joined a soccer league there as well and met the only constant friend she would have through her early teenage years: Patrick. He played on the converse gender soccer team that often practiced adjacent to her own. After their initial meeting they began arriving early and staying after to hang-out a bit; and, for a long-while this was the fostering point of their relationship. Eventually, they too began to meet at one another houses, and, in later years it was Patrick that introduced to her to his second passion: Video Games.

In the meantime, Morgana kept close contact with Megan – as close as the technology would allow. They traded flash-mail, video chatted online and generally updated – when they could – each other on their lives. Around the time Morgana turned ten, Megan had quit soccer in favor of cheerleading, and, she too began to play video games. Soon all three of them (including patrick) had something to talk about. Secretly however, Morgana did not play on her own, in fact only when they specifically asked her too. Video games were a means to play with friends nothing more.

Until she turned fifteen, Morgana spent the majority of her time with sports and her studies. She took both very seriously, soccer even more so than school and became one of the better known players at her local high school. Although she wasn't the type to flaunt her abilities she was often known by those that were not even in her social circle as a soccer player (of course they called it football). She played outside back and was a viciously fast defender. Maybe not as strong as others, but, her speed often made up for what she lacked in strength.

It wasn't until the new craze in gaming: the Nerve Gear came out, did she look into video games again. Patrick and Megan spent more time online with each other sometimes than she did with Patrick, and, he lived in her neighborhood. In a way she found it completely odd that someone further away could be more connected simply because they shared some technology in common with one another.

The budding sort of jealously made her cave into popular demand and buy a Nerve Gear. It gave her something to talk about with her two closest friends, and, a way back into their inner circle. However, she would have never foreseen the irony that would befall her on the day Sword Art Online released, and, she would become the only one of their trio to become trapped inside.

Morgan originally didn't care much for the game; in fact, she only logged in on that fateful day because her friend: Patrick, said he would be too and they could play together. He however, was held up at soccer practice after school and his delay turned out to be life altering to them both. On the day of the announcement it left her stranded alone in the game world with him on the outside getting word of the online incident. She had logged on precisely 30 minutes before the message. Patrick, wouldn't be home from practice 'till after 6 Pm, when it would be too late.

It took a bit, but, once the knowledge – a game to the death or victory – sank in, her first thoughts were not fear of it, but, instead: 'I'm alone;' she had entered under the false presumption that a friend would be with her. Now, she was more worried about the vast unknown in the isolated people around her, than she was of the daunting proclamation. Looking at those around her (they too having received the same news), it was clear that some were just as lost as she was in those first few moments. Following the onset of panic, she remained awhile in that courtyard; confused, unsure and most importantly, indecisive.

Video games were not her forte. After playing soccer for a number a years she was more akin to the physical, the finite where numbers, statistics, sword arts (magic) rarely played any known part. In a world of fantasy and its endless castle and spanning environments, whether or not they were generated virtually did not matter. What did, was that she was now fighting for her life in a game she knew next to nothing about.
