Endgame Battle Outfit and Sword<<PERSONALITY>>Daisuke can be distant at times, as a result of growing up in so much isolation, but he does his best to be polite and respectful of others, regardless of who they are. While he’s very independent at times, he has learned how to work in groups, at least within the setting of the game. This sense of independence, combined with his years of experience at playing games and his status as a SAO beta-tester has also made him somewhat reckless and stubborn when it comes to fighting, but he tries to be modest about his strength, knowing that not everyone is as strong as he is. Daisuke also can’t stand to see other people being mistreated, possessing a strong sense of justice that can occasionally turn into vengeance, making him not above killing another player if he deems them particularly evil. As such, his temper can sometimes get the better of him, but he does his best to keep it in check.<<HISTORY>>Born to a young businessman and an airline steward, Daisuke was diagnosed as having severe haemophilia when he was a baby, and spent most of the first few years of his life in the hospital getting treatment. He was sent home once he learned to walk, with instructions to his parents to keep a close watch on him. His mother had quit her job once her maternity leave ran out, and she doted on her son as much as possible. In-between the weekly appointments to the doctor, Daisuke led a lonely life, not being allowed to play with other children or go outside much due to his mother fearing for his safety. His father, now a successful businessman, paid to have tutors brought in so his son could be home schooled. Daisuke’s first introduction to video games came in the form of a Playstation for his sixth birthday, and that, combined with his budding love of books, would go on to shape his life.
The home schooling continued through Daisuke’s teenager years, with his grades being about average compared to others his age. As he grew older, more of his attention and energy went into video games, and he considered them a valuable thing to have during the endless rounds of appointments and discussions of treatment options regarding his haemophilia. Social interactions with his peers were usually brief and awkward for both sides, Daisuke having little practice with such things. But slowly, through observation of how people conducted themselves online and research, he began to apply the social lessons he had been taught with what he was seeing.
As he neared the time of graduation from high school, Daisuke began to consider what he wanted to do next in life. Social interaction with others was still deeply uncomfortable for him, but he was getting better at it, thanks to the communication aspect the games he played brought. But a wider exposure to the outside world was out of the question, even though recent advances in medicine meant that his even his severe haemophilia could be managed more easily. On the advice of one of his tutors, Daisuke began to explore the idea of being a beta tester - it was a key part of video game development, and it was something he could do from home. It took a bit of doing, but he eventually got picked up by a gaming company and starting playing their games.
Daisuke’s life as a young adult went fairly smoothly - he continued to grow as a beta tester, branching out into new types of games as they came out while still playing other games and reading as much as he could on the side. He moved into his own apartment went he was twenty-two, much to the dismay of his mother, but he felt it was time to step out into the world a little and become something like a ‘regular’ person. He still kept mostly to himself however, rarely venturing out of his apartment unless he needed something. Then Sword Art Online was announced, and Daisuke knew he had to be a part of it. His reputation as a beta tester helped him land one of the coveted positions, and he played the game tirelessly alongside the others, doing everything he could to find bugs or things that needed improvement. After the beta testing period ended, he waited anxiously for the launch day to arrive, turning to his books and a select number of games to fill the void.
He had logged on the minute the game went live. Yes, his stats and equipment may have been reset, but that wasn’t too big of a deal. No, he was eager to see what changes had been made, and to become the strongest player he could. Kayaba’s announcement left him shaken, but he didn’t panic like most around him did. He simply stared up at the spot where the self-proclaimed god had been, trying to process everything. Stuck in a death game…two realizations hit him at once: one, that his haemophilia would probably going to cause problems with long-term care, and two, that his username was now incredibly fitting. Ares, the Greek god of war. Well, he may be a mere mortal in Kayaba’s world, but he could still embody the essence of Ares - that of destruction and ruin. He had helped to build this world, and he would help to tear it down.SKILLS
